ISA PROJECT 2016-2017 – OVER A CUP OF COFFEE

CURRICULUM ACTIVITY

OVER A CUP OF COFFEE

GRADE X to XII

Students collected information on the origin, growth and development of coffee around the world and made a power point  presentation. Students were taken to ‘Manjolai’ where coffee is cultivated and the production process of coffee was learnt by the students through a questionnaire.  Students also explored the import and export of coffee in the chosen countries of study and presented it graphically. The ‘Coffee Ceremony’ of India, Ethiopia, Eritrea and Kenya were shown through PPT. Students performed a role play based on the PPT. Mr. Meenakshi Sundaram, Educationist, Ethiopia was invited to deliver a speech on “Inclination towards Coffee” and a quiz was conducted after the session.  Students exchanged information about coffee and its importance over a Skype session to the students of DPS, Singapore as a collaborative activity.  Students designed coffee mugs of different countries and displayed them. A “Coffee Day” was celebrated as culmination and the students set up stalls and analysed the affinity of different types of coffee.
